Synthetic workflow · Claude → ChatGPT
Continue a Claude project in ChatGPT with STEM
Review a concise project handoff in Claude, save it with permission, and retrieve that selected context in ChatGPT through the same STEM account.
Documentation reviewed . Host verification dates are listed separately.
Synthetic exercise. The project and prompts below are fictional. They are instructions you can run, not a record of a completed host test or a fabricated tool result.
Use this when you want ChatGPT to continue from a decision discussed in Claude. Connect both hosts to the same STEM account using the Claude guide and ChatGPT guide. This transfers a selected handoff note, not the source chat, attachments or Claude's built-in memory.
1. Review the handoff in Claude
For this exercise, use a fictional Cedar website project: the first release has a home page and an opening-hours page, uses metric units, and defers online payments. Ask Claude to show the proposed note before saving:
Draft one concise STEM handoff for the fictional Cedar website. Include the agreed first-release pages, metric units, payments deferred, and the next step: draft the opening-hours page. Label it “Cedar handoff practice 01”. Show the note for review. Do not save yet.
2. Approve exactly what will be saved
Check the proposed note for missing constraints and unintended details. After it matches the fictional brief, explicitly approve it:
Save that exact reviewed note to STEM with the label “Cedar handoff practice 01”. Save only that note. Report the memory ID from the successful tool result; if the tool fails, say so.
3. Retrieve it in ChatGPT
Start a new ChatGPT conversation with STEM enabled. Ask for retrieval before asking for new work:
Use STEM to recall “Cedar handoff practice 01”. Show the relevant saved note and memory ID. Do not save anything. Then outline the opening-hours page using only the retrieved constraints, and identify any missing facts.
Check the outcome
The retrieved note should match the approved text and saved ID. The outline should retain metric units and exclude payment implementation. If recall is empty or returns an unrelated note, stop and check the account, successful save and query. Do not invent the missing decision or repeatedly create the same note.
When finished, you may explicitly ask STEM to forget the actual test ID. Do not copy an ID from someone else's example. For the reverse direction, see ChatGPT to Claude; for export and import boundaries, see context transfer.
